The Michael Aram Pomegranate Collection takes its inspiration from one of the most universal and ancient symbols in the world. The fruit has been prized across the globe, across cultures and across time as a representation of life, rebirth, and renewal as well as fertility and union. "I grew up around pomegranates - from their use as natural dyes on the antique rugs I used to crawl on as a baby to an integral ingredient in the food that I love. When I'm at my home in New Delhi, I wake each morning to the taste of fresh squeezed pomegranate juice. The color, the smell, the delicate flavor all make it feel like a magical elixir to me." The Molten Collection takes its inspiration from the lore of ancient craftsmanship and the application of these time-honored techniques to modern shapes and environments. It is about the transformation of "industrial" to "beautiful", "technical" to "lyrical". The collection also strives to represent the clean lines and minimal atmosphere associated with the ideals of contemporary life and progressive design. Intricately hand welded edges make each piece an individual work of art, with no two pieces being identical. "The Molten Collection represents a way of living, which I really love - streamlined, timeless shapes, objects which reverberate with the skill of their maker and yet do not fit into a traditional interpretation of craft. Designed by René Lalique in 1934, the decorative panel Perles depicts a burst of fine droplets, evoking lightness and freshness. The brightness of the water pearls that spring from the crystal, are enhanced by the purity of the crystal, bringing out the lighting effects in the room. This panel was then interpreted as a knob. Its aerial grace offers us an innocent poetry. The dandelion bears many different names - flower of handsome men, golden floweret and king of the meadows. Botanical Leaf Kiddush Cup The Michael Aram Botanical Leaf Collection takes its inspiration from the intricacies of form and texture found in particular types of foliage. Reminiscent of eucalyptus and seagrape, the structure celebrates the twisting branches as much as it does the leaves themselves. "The image of leaves and branches is eternal, and has some kind of meaning for almost everyone. The Michael Aram White Orchid Collection illuminates the ethereal spirit of the orchid flower. Evocative of purity, delicacy, femininity and grace, the white metal version offers a strikingly different appeal than its black counterpart. While the sculpture is just as exuberant and detailed, in white, these flowers take on a simplicity that is completely unique. There is a sense of lightness, freshness and even innocence - each petal seemingly untouched and pure. "Orchids naturally emit a sense of sensuality and seductiveness, but in white nickel they take on a completely different meaning - an element of brightness that I associate with new beginnings. When I think of white orchids, I imagine the purity and sweetness of a newborn child, or a newlywed couple at the beginning of their lifelong journey." The collection has an almost gothic feeling – opiated, lush, and smoldering – like the dark, velvety atmosphere of a luxurious evening. "There is something so seductive about orchids. In blackened nickel, they are even more sublime, like a woman wearing a black velvet gown floating through a great estate or a glassy urban high-rise. The Palm Collection is inspired by the beauty of a windswept palm tree and the perfectly imperfect shapes of woven palm leaves and fallen fronds. The warm antique gold finish and the intricate sculpted textures exude comfortable luxury and graciousness. "I was having lunch with friends on a veranda overlooking the sea when I looked down to the lawn and saw a fallen palm frond. The leaves were all twisted and curled, yet it stood out magnificently against the otherwise perfect landscape. It made me think of the passage of time, and the bountiful gifts of the Palm tree, which provides everything from food to shelter." Antique Goldtone
